Ketchup on Eggs

I guess you could say that I like ketchup.  What I don’t like is the color red but it’s the best fit.  If this page wasn’t about ketchup it would be about dogs, processed cheese, the outdoors or any topic that triggers people.  So that sums me up, now for the reason for this site.  I’m taking this course as an elective for the Business Administration program.  Web design seemed like the least boring and/or traumatizing course available.  It’s actually turning out to be a fun class.

“Does the future of the internet have room for web designers” by Cameron Chapman, as the title states, is about whether there is a need for web designers in the future.  Cameron Chapman covers points such as the increasing reliability of our phones and apps and how information is superior to design.  I partially agree with how people are relying so much on their phones and apps but I don’t think that an app or Facebook page will replace a website.  What I don’t agree with is that information is superior to design.  Sure the information is what someone is looking for when they look at a website, but its also how you present the information.  Personally if I go to a website that isn’t well delivered or designed then the information provided, in lack of better words, is hard to take seriously. and that leads us to the second article,  “I want to be a web designer when I grow up”.

“I want to be a web designer when I grow up” written by Michael Aleo is a rebuttal to the article “Does the future of the internet have room for web designers”.   “I want to be a web designer when I grow up” hits the main point that web design is way more than just the colors, font and placement of information within the website but also content.  He states that web designers are researchers, finding information to turn into content.  Once they have the content then they have to organize it in a way that flows for the reader and emphasizes the most important.  Although phones and apps are taking over I have no doubt in my mind that web design will continue to be needed even if it means adapting to our changing world.
